Keep Your landscape Looking Beautiful in Rancho Santa Margarita with Cal Blend Soils Materials

Nothing fills you with delight quite like stepping outside to a delightfully manicured landscape. If your landscape could use a facelift, it might be time to stock up on some landscaping supplies. Not all building material companies are created equal. When you want the perfect landscape supplies for your next project, Cal Blend Soils has everything you need to keep your yard looking great all year long.

THE IMPORTANCE OF TOPSOIL

What is topsoil and why is it so important? The top few inches of soil sitting on the ground is called the topsoil. This the soil in which all of your vegetation will grow. Unlike the subsoil and rock found in the layers below, topsoil is rich in the minerals your plants need in order to survive and thrive. This organic layer can become thinner over time due to wind, erosion and other factors. When that happens in might be crucial to add some additional topsoil around your vegetation and trees to ensure they have all the vital minerals they need to grow.

Some people like to make their own garden compost to use in their garden as an substitute to fertilizer. However, it's important to note that compost is not the same as topsoil, and the two are not interchangeable. Even if you're using compost in your landscape, it's important that you also have a fair amount of quality topsoil mixed in.

POPULAR LANDSCAPING PRODUCTS

With all the choices available on the market, it can be tough to determine which landscape product is best for your particular job. At Cal Blend Soils, we help our customers select the perfect product for their unique needs. Some of our most popular offerings include:

Mulch

Mulch is popular among gardening enthusiasts for several reasons. Mulch does an exceptional job of protecting the root systems of your plants from excessive heat or frost damage. It also helps soil preserve moisture, which reduces the need for excess watering. In addition, mulch is very useful for combating the spread of weeds as it acts as a light barrier, preventing weeds from sprouting. Many people do not know that using mulch will also add valuable nutrients to the soil underneath.

There are some cosmetic benefits to using mulch that also make it very popular. Strategically using mulch in certain areas of your landscaping can add some interest to the look of your yard. Mulch comes in a variety of sizes, texture and colors, so you can find something that appeals to your unique aesthetic. Mulch is incredibly easy to install. Most people commonly install their mulch by hand or with the help of a hand-held blower. The only caution you need to take when using mulch is that you want to be careful not to let it build up directly under shrubs or around tree trunks. This may allow pests like mold to thrive. Once installed, mulch commonly does not have to be replaced for 2-3 years.

Decorative Wood Chips

Decorative wood chips are a type of mulch, but they are commonly larger pieces and heavier. Decorative wood chips offer a slightly different look than mulch, so some homeowners select them simply as an visual preference. but, there are some more practical benefits to choosing wood chips over lighter varieties of mulch. If you live in an area that is prone to windy weather, wood chips will be less susceptible to blowing away. The great thing about wood chips and all other mulch varieties is that they are simple to remove when if you decide you'd like to try something new in your yard. Plus, they are completely compostable, making them an environmentally friendly choice.

Decorative stone

For a time, decorative stone was less popular among landscapes, but, in recent years it has experienced a huge comeback. Homeowners looking for water-smart landscaping options have turned to stone as an substitute to living ground cover including grass lawns. With fewer areas to water, decorative stone allows for a beautiful landscape that is also sustainable. several homeowners feel good about doing their part to conserve water, and they are also rewarded with lower utility bills throughout the year.

Past generations turned to sand and dull gravel when they were looking to minimize their green space. but, today's home gardeners have access to many natural stone ground cover options. Decorative stone is available in a wide range of colors, shapes, and sizes. Some of our most popular varieties of deco rock include:

• Desert Hail
• Mexican Pebbles
• Boulders

Selecting Decorative Rock for Your Landscaping

Decorative rock is substantially heavier than other landscaping materials like mulch. For that reason, it's unlikely that you will be replacing it for a long period of time once it's installed. You want to make sure you select the perfect stone ground cover for your particular project. The experienced team at Cal Blend Soils will walk you through all your alternatives to make sure we find a solution that's just right for you. Here are some of the variables to consider when shopping for decorative stone:

Cost

Decorative rock is both sustainable and can be very affordable.but, some options are more expensive than others. Depending on where the deco rock will be going within your landscaping, a building materials professional will be able to recommend the most cost-effective solution for your job.

Size

Our stone selections range from tiny pebbles to large boulders. Smaller varieties are perfect for ground cover, while large boulders can make a huge statement in your yard. If you're interested in adding some interest to your landscaping with large boulders, consider how they will blend in with the plants and other elements around them.

Color

Some decorative rocks, such as our Mexican pebble varieties, come in beautiful shades of gray and blue. These can be perfect for areas of your landscape where you want something that is both functional and ornamental at the same time.
